Title :Nonlinear Dynamics in Tumor and Immune System Interaction Models
摘 要:
One of the most important and challenging questions in immunology and cancer research is to understand how the immune system affects cancer development and progression. On one hand recent data on both mice and humans with cancer suggest that innate and adaptive immune cell types, effector molecules, and pathways can suppress tumor growth by destroying cancer cells or inhibiting their outgrowth. On the other hand, the immune system can also promote tumor progression either by selecting tumor cells that are more fit to survive in an immunocompetent host or by establishing conditions within the tumor microenvironment that facilitate tumor outgrowth. These dual host-protective and tumor-promoting actions of immunity make the study of tumor/immune system interactions difficult, challenging and interesting. The purpose of this talk is to introduce some simple tumor/immune system interaction models and present results on the nonlinear dynamics of such models.
